I WAS A TEENAGE SUPER GIRL
LOVE WAS BETTER WITH TIME
Unlike her sister Vanessa, Monica was never impressed with the stories mom and dad would tell about their career as superheroes. Monica disliked the superhero biz. It just seemed silly, not very practical (and against her developing Republican leanings regarding self-reliance). Imagine her surprise during her 16th birthday party she nearly blows the house up when she attempts to blow out her candles. Everyone assumed Quentin and Rhonda's power weren't transferable when the older Vanessa never developed them. Now Monica was one of "them" (oddly, her powers are different from her parents). Though her first instincts were to hide, keep her powers to herself and lead a normal life...her parents talk her into donning the costumed life. There's going to be a lot of training involved, and therein lies the real appeal to her. Mom and dad will have to train her together...be together more often...maybe this could lead to a reconciliation. That's all Monica has wanted since she was 12, for them to get back together. If it means putting on a silly costume and punching out a few madmen hell-bent on world domination, so be it.
Vanessa Quinn is the older of the two daughters, four years older than Monica. Momma and papa Quinn had superpowers and they expected their first born to inherit those powers. But that wasn’t the case. Vanessa never developed superpowers. But when she turned 16 she did go into the family business and became a hero called Tuff Luv. Though she didn’t have powers she did have a fondness for guns and other dangerous weapons. She was a perfect marksman and weapons master. But there was a change in Vanessa shortly after her parent’s divorce. Superheroing lost its thrill. She started spending less and less time in costume, her eating habits became bizarre and recently she switched over to the side of the villains. Monica never knew that Vanessa was the gun-toting heroine Tuff Luv and now that Vanessa is a villain it’s probably for the best it remain that way. Another thing Vanessa noticed recently was that all the heroines in comic books and many of her bad girl friends had chests the size of Dolly Parton. Maybe that’s what she was missing...maybe that’s why she felt empty. Well, the reasoning of disturbed girl. Anyhow, so she gets herself a set of implants. C’mon, we know these comic gals have implants, they gotta. At least Vanessa will be the first to admit it.
Quentin Quinn inherited the role of Warhorse from his dad, the Original Warhorse, who was killed during the last days of WWII. As the new Warhorse he became one of the better known, if not popular, heroes of the 1960's. He didn't get much respect as a hero, there always seemed to be others mightier and more popular even if they didn't last very long. The hero and personal team-ups with GoldenRod were the highlights of his life. When the marriage ended so did the career. Tossing the costume (all 18 different colored versions) into the closet he changed to the television market, he reasoned he would gain respect there. And he was respected for his talk show in it's first year...but low ratings was the catalyst for drastic changes. What started out as a thoughtful show akin to Donahue quickly sank to the levels of a Jerry Springer. No respect, but very high ratings. But now Monica has entered the hero biz, she'll bring respect and honor to the family name. She'll accomplish everything he was never able to. He'll train her, mold her, she'll be the greatest hero in the world...and more importantly she'll be sure to join the Justice Union, even if it kills her.
