MY HEART BELONGS TO PEGASUS
How old is Pegasus City? I'd say about 123...founded by Grant Harnuckle, a part time banker and part time musician, and part time warlock. Well, that's just a rumor. Anyhow, unlike most superpowered cities, Pegasus isn't loaded down with art deco or retro buildings or hip coffee houses...no, Pegasus isn't that much different looking from Tempe. Still, it's a nice hub for superheroics. I guess they started popping up around 1940 just before our entrance into the war. In 1941 they really started to come out of the woodworks. The silver-age, the 60's, was when things starting getting soooooo weird. The number of heroes was fewer but somehow there were more villains...but not ordinary villains...crazy villains, talking gorillas, evil worms, werewolves, vampires, giant living rocks, aliens, killer boyscouts, just crazy stuff. The 60's saw the birth of the Justice Union. They seemed like nice enough lads at first...but by the 80's, well, let's just say they weren't all that much fun anymore. I hear their Justice Try-Out is a killer. But all in all the city has held up well. Heroes come and go. There's not a whole lot of heroes around these days...the Justice Union takes care of most everything, and if you ain't in the Union you just don't count. Huh? Monica Mass? Never heard of her.
A LOVE THAT DARE NOT BE SPOKEN
What kind of man reads Monica Mass? Who the heck knows...if we could predict that then every comic in the world would be selling over 5 million a month and there'd be no bombs. My guess would be guys and gals with tastes similar to mine, those who enjoy(ed) Chase, 1963, C.H.I.X., Supreme, Trouble With Girls, Astro City, Leave It To Chance, Big Bang Comics, FemForce, Omega the Unknown, Micronauts, Justice League Europe, Starman, Millie The Model, The Inferior Five, Strangers In Paradise, early Challengers of the Unknown, Savage Dragon, The One, ToyBoy, Dexter's Lab, The Defenders, Zot, Jonny Quest, Woodgod, Marvels, early Warlock, Blue Beetle, Airboy, Hawkman, and Tiger Beat...these people might at least pick it up...whether they stay is a whole other ballgame.

MY LOVER IS A CLOWN
What's so funny about Monica Mass? There are goofy characters, bizarre scenery, crazy villains, over the top antics. And...yet...it's not a comedy. Those who really read it will find it more disturbing than funny. We have selfish parents trying to live their lives through their daughter...a more subtle form of child abuse. We have a lonely young girl who has taken to superheroing for all the wrong reasons. We have an older girl who has done absurd things to her body seeking acceptance. We have a cop who is a hazard to public safety. This ain't your friend's uncle's cousin's brother's father's aunt's comic books.
HE DROVE A CAR THROUGH MY BROKEN HEART
What would a superhero be without a nice car to fight crime in (and then license to a toy company)? To celebrate his daughter continuing the family tradition, Warhorse gives Monica a Monica Mobile (a specially designed Corvette). It's a proud moment for Quentin, until Rhonda points out that Monica can fly. Well, it's the thought that counts. Monica also has a catchy theme song...every hero needs one.

Danger, Monica Mass, Danger!
